California Bag Ban Fail – Bag Monsters Prevail!

Slovenian artist Artnak's "Plastic Bag Monster" is displayed outside the European Commission headquarters in BrusselsHey all! Bag Monster here! Last Thursday the California State Senate voted on banning single-use plastic bags, the legislation was not passed -they were three votes short!  My Bag Monster friends and I are absolutely delighted, we live to fight another day. Haha!

Senator Alex Padilla, one who worked very hard on activating the ban communicated his disappointment in missing the goal. He also expressed his gratitude for those who spoke up, and reached out to legislatures. Apparently, a multitude of humans want me and my plastic-industry friends banished! They defend this ideal by insisting it’s best for the planet. Planet? What planet?

Padilla claimed banning us will “save consumers and local governments millions of dollars every year”. I, the Bag Monster, say, “Who cares about saving money when you can use and toss like it’s going out of style?”

Padilla declared his full confidence in getting rid of me and my comrades stating, “We will win this fight in the end, because it’s the right thing to do for our environment, for our economy, and for our families”. Huh?

You came close this time California! You better stop trying because I don’t know how much more me and my plastic-industry friends can take! Our lobbyists, and lawyers are getting expensive and tired. They’re running out of valid arguments to keep me and my plastic friends around!

The time has come fellow bag monsters, let’s end this once and for all!
