San Jose to Ban Single-Use Shopping Bags

Posted by — December 11, 2010 1:00 am
One year after pledging to ban plastic bags, the San Jose city council will finally vote on Tuesday, December 14th.  Save The Bay estimates that over one million plastic bags enter the Bay each year and are one of the most common litter items picked up by volunteers on Coastal Cleanup Day. Plastic bags threaten wildlife, choke wetlands, and create an eyesore on our beautiful Bay. But this plastic pollution is avoidable.
Encourage the City of San Jose to make history in the movement to protect the Bay by voting “yes” to ban plastic bags!  Please join Save The Bay, Andy Keller from ChicoBag Company, Bag Monster  and many other organizations in speaking at the city council meeting on December 14th. Or, just come and show your support!  Visit Save the Bay’s website to send a letter of support.  You can read more about San Jose’s move in the Bay Citizen
